Choose Not to Be Offended...

Yesterday I was a pretty big grump. It was one of those days where everything was going wrong and making me more and more upset as time passed. Friends, Family, Work, just everything. Marc came home and talked to me for a while and told me to quit worrying about things, that if I were not prego I would not even be thinking twice about these things that had me all fired up. Of course being in the mood I was in, I thought he just can't relate.
You are all probably wondering why I am writing about a bad morning/afternoon I had yesterday. Well... it all hit home today when I was talking to a co-worker about our unborn baby girls. His wife is due in March. We were talking about names, setting up the nursery ect.. He randomly asked me if I had heard the talk from David A. Bednar in 2006. I can't remember what we had for dinner Tuesday night, so of course I said no. He sent me this link. It was a talk titled "And nothing shall offend them" As I read this talk one paragraph stood out to me...

"It ultimately is impossible for another person to offend you or to offend me. Indeed, believing that another person offended us is fundamentally false. To be offended is a choice we make; it is not a condition inflicted or imposed upon us by someone or something else."

Can you say wowza... this co-worker that I rarely talk to just happened to be reading this today and sent it to me. It was EXACTLY what I needed to hear. All the sudden I realized everything I had been upset about yesterday was because of my choice to be upset. So, I am writing about it because I don't want to forget it. I am sure this is something that will help me through many, many situations in my life. AND... who knows, maybe it will help someone else today too!

On another note... I am so excited to go to San Diego with Marc tomorrow!. I just love his break times and seeing him be able to let loose and have fun instead of have to study all the time. He really deserves it from all the hard work he puts in. I know he is thrilled to spend the holidays down there with his family and friends and that makes me even more excited!.
Now, I need to go pop some Martinilli's in the freezer so we can celebrate the end of Quarter #5 when Marc gets home.

Baby Scare

Well, we have had kind of a crazy few days in our house. Not only has Marc started Quarter 5 finals & started studying for boards, but we also had a few baby scares. This is going to be a REALLY long post, but tells the story from start to finish.

It all started Sunday night. We had done everything just as normal as we do every other day, I went in to get ready for bed around 10:30 & took my prenatal's just before hitting my pillow and Marc was in the study hitting the books. For the first few hours I kept waking up tossing and turning, almost like I couldn't get my belly comfortable. Around 2:00am I woke up with this incredible pain in my upper stomach. I can't put into words what it felt like, but just know it hurt like CrAzY. I woke up and drank some water. A few minutes later Marc just happened to come in for bed. Of course he was shocked to see me awake and asked what was wrong, I told him my stomach was really hurting and the only thing I could think was maybe I didn't have enough food in my stomach before taking my prenatal's. Marc got me some tums, but they were not helping so I eventually decided to go in the kitchen and eat a piece of bread, thinking maybe that would help. Marc fell asleep before I even got back to the bedroom from eating the bread. I knew he was SO tired with all the studying he had been doing, so I didn't wake him up. I tried doing everything I could think of to get rid of this pain which kept increasing. I started doing laps around our house, put my arms above my head, hunched over the couch in a ball, googled upper stomach pain. Everything you can think of, I tried. Around 3:30 in the morning I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't want to go to the ER because 1) our deductible is ridiculously high and 2) I couldn't even describe the pain very well. So I resorted to plan B, I called the Kanab Hospital to see if my Aunt Teresa was working. I knew if she was working she'd be awake and would be able to tell me if I needed to go to the doc or not, but of course with my luck she didn't come in till the next morning. So I called my mom and woke her up. I asked her if she ever had the pain and described it the best I could. After a long time of talking she suggested I get two wash cloths one hot and one cold and put both on my stomach one after another. The hot wash cloth actually helped a little, It would dull the pain just enough to let me fall back asleep for about 20 minutes before waking up with the pain back again. Each time I woke up it was different than before. Sometimes it lead down in to my lower belly & sometimes up into my chest, but was consistently on my right upper stomach between my rib and my xiphoid process. There were multiple times I felt like I was running out of air and would make sure I grabbed Marc's arm in case I couldn't speak to get his attention. Around 6:45am I woke up with the pain the worst. It was in my chest, my stomach and now in my back just to the center of my shoulder blade. I couldn't breath very well. I thought Marc will be up any sec and he will be able to tell me what is happening, but he was out cold. I got up and was sitting in a chair in our room just waiting for him to wake up and trying to take slow deep breaths, but finally gave in and called the doctors office. I got an answering machine that said they opened at 8, so I got up and got dressed then woke up Marc to take me in. We got there at 8:12 and their door said they didn't open till 8:30 (of course right?) Well they are amazing and took me right in. By this time my pain had gone from an 8 to a 3. That's what always happens right, as soon as you decide to get help it starts to go away. Well, they still did a full exam. She did 2 different ultrasounds and then a physical check. She said the baby seemed to be fine, but thought the pain could have been caused by a few different things so she sent us straight to the hospital to get priority labs. She also said that she wanted me to stay in bed taking it easy until she got the labs back. Before we left, she told us she was glad we came in because she had something she wanted to tell us about our last ultrasound, but didn't want to tell us over the phone because she didn't want us to panic. (Like hearing that she wanted to tell us in person is going to calm me down right?) Anyways, at our last ultrasound they found a Choroid Plexus Cyst on the baby's brain. Chroid Plexus Cysts are most strongly associated with Trisomy 18. If you are like me at all I had NO idea what that meant, but figured it wasn't good since she didn't dare tell us over the phone.. I will explain more about what it is when i tell you about the appointment with the specialist. So anyways, she said she wanted to get us in right away to a ultrasound specialist to have them look at this cyst on the baby's brain. So my job was to get to the hospital, get my labs done, schedule the appointment & get in bed. By the time we got home the ultrasound specialist office had called me to get me in first thing the next morning. We scheduled the appointment, Marc left for school and I fell right asleep. Well, Dr. Eckland finally called back with my lab results. She said she was happy because it wasn't the two things she thought, but that the blood work did show I had anemia. She couldn't explain the pain in my upper stomach, but said that if it happened again she wanted me to call her on-call number right away.
So... onto the ultrasound appointment with the specialist. I know I am going to totally butcher the medical terminology of all this, but this is the dumbed down version I can understand/explain. When I first got there they called me in to explain what they were looking for and why they were concerned. They said that this specific cyst is double checked because it is linked to the Trisomy 18. Tri-18 is a chromosomal defect. I believe (from my understanding) it is similar to down syndrome, but has more medical complications. Again, I could totally be butchering what Tri-18 is, but she told me that most babies that have Tri-18 don't make it out of the womb and if they do they will typically die within the first year. So because the other doctor had seen this cyst on the brain, they needed to check and see if the baby had signs pointing to this Tri-18, if the cyst was causing cleft palate or if the cyst was gone all together. She told me that any pregnant woman's chances of having this Tri-18 is 1 in 100,000. Having spotted this cyst in the previous ultrasound that took our chances of having Tri-18 to 1 in 10,000. If she saw it again today that would take our chances to 1-100 which is really bad. So then they took me back to do the ultrasound. The first guy that came in did all kinda of pictures. He reminded me of the doctor on back to the future. Kinda a weirdie, but I was a fan of him because he gave me a mirror to be able to see the screen he was looking at. At one point you could see the baby moving all around. I asked him if the baby was moving and he said yes, just not the way he wanted her to. He was trying to get her femur measurement so he took the ultrasound stick and jabbed my stomach 3 times trying to get her to move right and **wham** she kicked back right where he just jabbed. I saw it on the screen and felt it. It was pretty dang funny. Like leave me the heck alone dude. haha!. Anyways he told me that he didn't see the cyst anymore, but that he wanted to pull in another doctor to confirm. Then Dr. Aziz came in, she did all kinds of pictures too. Almost exactly what he had just done, just in more detail. She explained everything along the way zooming right in on every little detail of the baby to confirm that it didn't have the cyst anymore, Tri-18 or cleft palate. She also confirmed that she didn't see signs of any of them. That our baby is beautiful & growing perfect. She was so zoomed in on her face you could see her scratch her cheek with her little fingers. It was WAY cool. She said that the doctor before could have seen a cyst & it could have just naturally gone away, but that she my have also just thought she saw something and wanted to have it double checked. Either way, they didn't see anything now. So our odds at this time are 1-10,000. Not the 1-100,000 we would have hoped for, but not the 1-100 I was worried about.
So, now we are back home. No more stomach pains, back to finals and loads of beautiful pictures of our little baby girl. We have follow up appointments next week, but as of now... things are as good as we could have hoped for. Here are some of the ultrasound pictures they gave me today....

Baby's face.

Baby from the side.

Baby's nose & mouth. Look at those luscious lips!!

I seriously can't get enough of her big lips!. SO cute!!

Baby's face, side view. I think it's crazy that you can see her tongue go way back.

Little Baby Girl...

We have had an awesome week in the Grow house. It started last Saturday when Mama Su, Cortney & Kim showed up. We laughed for 4 days straight before Kim had to leave and Marc's Mom, Dad & Brother came to visit. Wednesday night we had the ultrasound to find out we are having a little baby girl. It was kind of a surreal thing to find out. It's weird how they tell you that you are having a girl. They said to us, "well I don't see anything so looks like it's a girl!." I wanted to ask "Is the baby in a weird position and you can't see anything? Or are you in the right spot and there is nothing there?" I want a 100% full proof answer, but I know they can't give that.... so I am just hoping that the baby comes out part-less. :) After we found out, we celebrated at Marie Calendar's before rushing home to make Thanksgiving day Rolls!.
Thanksgiving was fabulous!. A full day of football, cards and delicious food!.
For "Black Friday" my mom, Emma and I hit the stores to try and find deals on baby stuff. I can't believe we didn't find hardly any sales, but we did come across a used baby furniture store where we were able to get a crib, changing table & pack and play for about $8-900 less than what it would have cost to buy in the store. So that was pretty awesome. After 12 LONG hours of store shopping we called it quits.
Saturday we headed up to San Francisco to go to the California Academy of Science Museum. The aquarium was my favorite part. I have seen a lot of aquarium's, but this aquarium seemed to have things you don't typically see. So I liked it.

So all in all it was a really busy, but very fun Thanksgiving Break!. Cortney leaves tonight and then we will be back to our quiet little house for a few weeks while Marc starts to buckle down studying for boards. I want to tell everyone that was here thanks again for coming, it was SOOOO fun to have you here & you were all a BIG help!. Miss you already & see you soon! I LOVE the holidays!! **PICTURES NOT IN ORDER**

Small Talk!.

So I found out my cousin and his adorable wife are expecting their 3rd child in May. I'm SO excited for them, but was also excited to tell Marc. This is how our conversation went down...

Kaisi: "Boomer & Rachael are having a baby in May. Cool huh?"
Marc: "Yeah!. Nice work Boomer!"
Kaisi: *laughing* "Nice work Boomer?. What about poor Rachael. She is the one doing all the work for the next 9 months."
Marc: "Please! Guys are the ones who really have it rough. In fact they should have 'Man Showers' not baby showers. Give us presents like Ear Plugs, Glasses that have open eyes on them. Ya know, stuff like that..."

Usually we are pretty good at going back and forth with funny comebacks, but from time to time he leaves me speechless. Needless to say, this was one of those times.....
Bravo Marc, chalk one up on the board.

Cloud 9

The next few weeks are exciting for us!. LOTS going on. Marc has his first parenting class Tuesday. "The Expectant Dad Class" I am not allowed to go, so I am excited to hear what they tell/teach them. In the next two weeks we have two doctors appointments. The 2nd one we will be finding out the sex of the baby. I am SOOOOOO dang excited I can't hardly stand it. My Mom, Cortney & Kim are coming in Saturday and then Marc's parents early next week!. Thanksgiving!! Black Friday!. It's about time we start buying things. We are 1/2 way there and haven't bought ONE thing yet. Then the dentist!. Okay, so I am not so stoked about the last one (dentist), but everything else has me on cloud 9!. To an exciting next couple weeks!!

Oh, and did I mention I can feel the baby moving around now?!. Not all the time, but every now and then.. It is crazy weird. At least I think it's the baby... if it's not, we might be headed to a 3rd Doctor's apt here soon. :)

Vacation Please...

I have been struggling lately with wanting to go on a cruise!!. Each time I think about it I fight for both sides.

Reasons to go:
-Once the baby comes vacations will never be the same for us again. I am excited for this change, but also sad to leave care free childless vacations behind.
-Marc will be out of school and was actually excited by the idea. One last vacation.
-Starting next year I get an extra week of PTO added to my benefits and lets face it, I could use some time away from my job.
-Going will let a load of stress off both Marc and I. We could use a week of just fun. No work, no school.
-Possibility of regretting not going on one last hoo-rah before such a big change.

Reasons not to go:
-We are preparing for a baby! That is EXPENSIVE!!! Not only to have the baby, but to have the stuff the baby needs once it is here and to support it for the next 18 years. (When I think of this aspect it seems dumb I even have the desire to go at all)
-Could it be miserable? I know everything I hear and all the books I read say that at this time in my pregnancy I will feel the best I will feel throughout the whole thing and even though I do feel better there is still the off chance I may be very uncomfortable or sick.
-Did I mention it would cost money? Money we have to put towards this baby coming?

I keep pushing the idea out of my mind because lets face it, we are not going. We can't spend money on a cruise when we are already overwhelmed with the cost of all the baby stuff, but for some reason the thought keeps popping back into my head. **This is your last chance, do it while you can**

17 weeks along, Pregnancy update....

My mom keeps telling me that I should write down all the stuff I am experiencing because it will be fun to look at years from now or show to the baby when they are having a baby... so here is another pregnancy update!. I know this is a crazy long post, but there is some funny stuff in here and I want to remember it all. Since my memory is non existent right now, if I don't write it down it will be lost forever...

My sickness has FiNaLlY started to fade for the most part. I don't have that nauseating feeling all day long so I am loving that, but when I do get sick it comes fast and out of no where.

Story: The other night I took my pre-natels and immediately felt the I might puke feeling. Of course I was doing everything I could to hold it back because I had just taken the pills and I didn't want them to come up. So I walk in the bedroom making sure I am within steps of the bathroom and of course right at that moment Marc comes in wanting to wrestle. He tackles me down on the bed and I said, "no please don't I feel like I am going to throw up." He of course thinks I am kidding and that I just don't want to wrestle. So he keeps at it... I said again "seriously please, not right now." Again, he thinks I am kidding... and then right at that moment it hits me, it's coming up!. So I said "I am not kidding, move" and got this ultra strength to through him off. Which for how much bigger he is than I am, is not easy, but it seemed easy. I made it a few steps and blaaah!. Let's just say I aimed for the toilet, but just wasn't quite there. So after I am done dry heeving I reach for the T.P. to clean up and what do I find, 1 square!. Of course right? So I called to Marc to please grab me another roll, he peeked his head around the door like a puppy dog in trouble and threw it into the bathroom. Then I hear him say "I am so sorry, I really thought you were kidding." Let's just say since then every time I say I am feeling like I might yack, the wrestling ends there. No questions asked.

Now, onto another subject!. Lets just say that although I am not spending as much time face down in the bathroom doesn't mean I have lost my BFF friendship with the porcelain. Never in my life have I had to go to pee so often!. I will tell you the worst part about it though, when you lay down for a nap or wake up in the middle of the night I have this crazy pain from holding back. Like I haven't gone to the bathroom in weeks right, so I run to the bathroom (or I guess I should say waddle) sit down thinking I am about to turn on a faucet and a few tinkles come out. It's like UGH!. I can't believe I just woke up and got out of bed for that!!. But you know you had no choice at the time. Marc has started to think it is funny that my bladder is a water-balloon always about to pop. He will come in and sit down by me and loves to rub my belly and pat it. He is convinced the baby has to have that little wrestling moment every so often to turn out OK and I think it is cute he wants to play with the baby, but sometimes I have to warn him to be careful because I have to pee. So he will slowely stand up like is is being all sweet, then jab a few pokes at my bladder and then get this grin on his face. Yesterday was one of these experiences. He was jabing and I said, you better be careful because one of these times you are going to be doing that all in fun and a little pee is going to come out. He immediately stopped and stood by like I had just defiled all words and said "GROSS!" So last night I was laughing and telling my mom about it and she said "I can't wait until he is adjusting a pregnant woman and she pee's a little. At least you are his wife, imagine how gross it will be then!." hahaha!.... Bravo mom!. Wish I would have thought to say that.

Story: As I am getting ready for bed last night I put on my PJ's, go to the bathroom, brush my teeth, walk to the bed, lay down and have to go to the bathroom again. I just know the baby is laughing on the inside thinking 'Gottcha sucker'

Memory: I can't remember ANYTHING. Seriously, if I don't write down what I am thinking at that exact moment I could walk in another room and forget what I walked in there for. Post it notes are my new life savers. It's no wonder women have kids over and over because they can't remember what it was like to be pregnant. :)

Ok last topic, but not least for this post. My dreams!! Oh my goodness, my dreams! They are SO weird!!. On top of all the dreams I have about people I have not seen in YEARS, we're talkin' like high school days I have been having dreams about animals too. Mostly baby animals. There is no rhyme or reasoning to any of my dreams, but here are two I remember about the baby animals...

1st dream: I was in a field feeding these alligators or something ducks. Like long necked ducks. Well, we ran out so we were searching for more ducks to keep feeding the alligators. I saw this shape under the dirt that looked like a duck neck so I started to dig it out, but it wasn't a duck. It was a baby rino!. The horn on it was the part I thought was the duck neck. So I kept digging and this rino was preserved by the dirt (like Austin Power style), but as soon as I dug it out it came back to life. Since it had been frozen for so long it didn't have a mom or dad so I had to take care of it. We became super close and the baby rino was always afraid I was going to leave it because it was different than I was and I had to assure it I would never leave it. Then the baby rino started to grow up and people stopped letting us travel places and go in stores, so we always had to stay home, but I kept to my promise. I never left it!. I remember I even woke up and was like oh crap! I have to go back to sleep, I promised the rino I wouldn't leave it!! haha
2nd dream. Last night I had a dream about a baby bear. (this dream is graphic, viewer descression is advised) I was at my mom and dads house in Kanab. This baby bear got lost and came to our house. It looked like a skunk kind of because it had a while stripe. I had to take care of this baby because it didn't have anyone else to. My family was buying a big screen TV and was all about unloading it from the truck so they didnt care that I was helping the baby bear. So a long time went on where I cared for this baby, then it's mom came. She was BIG and MEAN! She came to my mom and dad's house and broke through the glass in the front door. She started roaring at my brother Bryan and he just stood there, she was standing over him and I gave him a gun, because she was going to attack him. He couldn't shoot her. So he handed the gun to me. As I saw her coming down with her paw to strike Bryan I shot. It hit her right in the chest, but didn't kill her. She jumped back out the door and ran across the street. All the sudden the baby I was taking care of and another baby she had who had come with her ran up to her in her arms. They knew she was hurt really bad and I started crying because I had hurt the mom of the baby I loved. Luckily a man in a lime green shirt came across them and took the bear away to get help. I woke up crying!!

So this is what pregnancy has brought to me at 17 weeks. Less nausea, more bathroom breaks, crazy dreams, longing desire to find out if it's a boy or girl, debates about baby names, laughing more, questioning if what I am feeling is the baby moving, major body self esteem issues, major memory issues and tight clothes!.

(sorry for any typo's, spelling issues or grammar problems I typed this in a hurry!!)

Happy Halloween!

This year Marc and I didn't do anything to wild and crazy for Halloween. We decided to paint some pumpkins, get some Carmeled Apples & go to Great America's Haunted Halloween with some friends. No dressing up, just some spooky Halloween spirited stuff. Marc really got creative with his pumpkin. He did 3 faces and a Charger Bolt. He said he didn't want to have any "wasted space" on his pumpkin. Great America was really fun. They had 7 haunted houses, 4 scare zones, a bunch of shows, plus all the normal rides. It was pretty packed so we stuck to the haunted houses. I had never been to a haunted house with Marc before last night, he was SO funny!. I had no idea he got scared so easily. You usually expect your big strong husband to hold your hand and keep ya close in these types of situations, but no no!. Marc was using me as a human shield!. He would push me through doors to see if I jumped or grab my sweater and pull me back if someone was getting up in his face. Our group kept calling dibs on who go to go behind Marc to watch his reactions. I joked with him and told him after seeing his reactions last night I am going to have to switch him sides of the bed to sleep by the door b/c if someone broke in he proved he would just throw me in front anyways, so I might as well be prepared. haha. It was a lot of fun. I didn't get any pictures of us at Great America, but here are our pumpkins and yummy Carmeled Apples! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!.

Million Dollar Baby!.

I have SO much to tell you about the doctors appointment yesterday!. Okay, for starters Marc and I have been in auto pilot mode this week.. He thought I would remind him about the appointment and I thought he remembered, so Tuesday night came and he asked me when it was. When I said tomorrow and he about had a heart attack. He had already committed to a High School Hockey game and there was no way out of it. So leading off from that can I say... You don't realize how many looks your going to get until you go to the doctors office with a cup of pee in a brown plastic baggie without your husband & you forget to put on your wedding ring! :) haha... SO AWKWARD!!.
So I always have a million questions I want to ask the doctor, but always forget each time I go to the doctor's office. There was a pretty long wait yesterday, so I took some time and wrote all the questions I could remember, which was like a whole whopping 4 or 5. My memory is REALLY bad right now.
Onto the nurse, Emily... She calls my name and brings me back to my room. She always gets straight to the point and throws me on the scale 1st thing. As of yesterday I am down 6 lbs since my first appointment. Which is weird because my upper body feels SO much bigger than before. So then Emily totally suckered me into getting a flu shot!. I was strong last appointment (when Marc was with me) I said no way jose! This time I caved... Live and learn, no mare apt's without Marc! :) The shot didn't hurt as bad as when I have gotten blood drawn, but last night and today I feel like I got sucker punched in the arm. It is SO sore I can't even lay on my left side. That was the first and only flu shot I think I ever want. The things I'm doing for this baby already!!.
Okay, now onto Dr. Eckland. Ohhh how she missed Marc. First thing she asked me was where he was. They have this little bond since she doesn't have to dumb down the medical terms for him. She did her 3rd and final ultrasound, which I was sad Marc wasn't there to see. It was bitter sweet though because she explained everything to me as she was looking this time instead of me usually staring at the ceiling and then getting a quickie version. I could not believe how much the baby had changed! It actually looked like a baby this time!. The legs were all sprawled out like it was laying out in the sun catching some rays!. :) Totally my baby, comfort all the way! Then she asked me the question I was DYING to know! "Do you want to know the sex of the baby" UGH... YEAH!!! She laughed and said it was still really early, but if she saw she would tell me. So then she moved the stick down to my lower left side. She was moving it around a bit then she started jabbing my stomach with it. She said when she first went down there the baby was spread eagle, but quickly crossed it's legs. So from what she saw, with it being really early and only getting a quickie look she **THINKS** it's a girl!. I will not be surprised if we go the the fetal specialist and it ends up being a boy, but it was kind of a thrill to hear what she thought!.

Where we are now... we will go to a fetal specialist to find out the sex of the baby for sure between 18-20 weeks. I have to go get more blood drawn next Thursday & Marc has to come with me to get his blood type tested. Also, I was told I have to get Marc into a pharmacy to get his flu shot now that I got mine. Wish me luck with that... My sickness has FINALLY started to fade. I am still really tired a lot, but that I can handle! I am a pro at sleeping! I am excited for my fam & Marc's to be joining us for Thanksgiving in a few weeks and hope I can get the energy to do a solid clean on our house before they get here.

Well that is our grow family update... Now look at our beautiful baby below!! SO stinking cute. :)

Birthday Birthday, Happy Birthday!

So this last Saturday was my 25th Birthday!. It came and went quickly because I spent most of the day sleeping!. Last Wednesday I caught Marc's cold & we have both been sick for what seems like forever. I think Marc is finally about over it & my cough as of today is calming down, so we are on the flip side of things now!. But, back to Saturday. Because we were both sick neither of us had any desire to go out and about for a fun active day. Marc woke up early and surprised me with 25 roses, then he got me a HUGE signing card & headphones. Later that night we managed to get ourselves together enough to go to dinner at Benihana's. We had solid plans to go to the movie after, but bailed on that idea to come home and curl up on the couch with hot coco!. I wasn't to much in the birthday spirit because I was sick, but Marc did an excellent job at making me feel special!. It was pretty funny, later that night (around 11) he was rubbing my shoulders & gasped for air.. I said "What?!" He said "I forgot a cake!" I just laughed! Maybe next year we will get more in the birthday mood!.

Doctor's Appointment #2

We had our 2nd doctors appointment yesterday and even though it was quick, it was AMAZING!!

Our doctor came in & gave me the results to my labs I had taken last week. She said everything was good, but had to talk to me about my blood type. She said I am A- which is bad I guess. She said if Marc is negative too we are fine, but if he is positive the the next time we get pregnant my body will try to kill off the baby. So they are having Marc go in with me and get labs next week. If his blood type turns up positive I will have to get a shot or some procedure done in the 28th week of pregnancy. Then again right after the baby is born. So we are crossing our fingers he is negative like me!.

After telling us the results of the labs she did our 2nd Ultrasound. It was incredible, just like before!!! I am admitting though, it's rough being the mom. You have to lay there on the table and stare at the ceiling while the Doctor measures & shows everything about the baby to the dad. It's hard to sit there patiently waiting for your turn. I can see that Marc LOVES it though, so it makes it so worth it. I was watching him and he had this big old grin on his face while she explained everything. I had to fight back the tears... That is saying a lot for me because I don't usually cry in public!! No one saw or knew of course. :) Anyways, when I finally got to see I could see the babies hands waving around and feet kicking. The heart was beating SO fast & you could even see the umbilical cord pulsating. It was CRAZY cool. We also got two pictures this time. When she printed the first one I hadn't seen the screen yet, I had just heard her explaining to Marc. So she handed the picture to me and I didn't know which end was the bum or head. It didn't look like a baby to me!!. Which confused me because she said it would look so much more like a baby this time compared to last time. I couldn't see it until she showed me the beautiful baby moving around all over the screen & the picture suddenly made since.

She also moved us back up again on how far along we were. Last appointment she bumped us back 4 days, then yesterday she bumped us forward two. So we are 11 weeks 2 days as of today (9/23/2010). Making our due date April 12th now instead of April 14th I guess. Do the measurements always change making you further or less along by a few days at each appointment?

So our appointment was exciting as always. We have our next appointment October 20th. So in the next month we will hit the 2nd tri, I will have two labs taken, Marc will have one lab & then we will have another appointment (hopefully finding out the sex of the baby!.) Lots going on in the Grow family!!

Also, I have been craving a beef bologna sandwich for days, but had read on a few different websites that you should not eat deli meat. It never narrowed it down exactly so I called my wonderful Aunt Teresa (aka, the best nurse ever) and she told me bologna is fine to eat. Bless her heart!! Not to mention that we are headed to Utah tonight. I am seeing Cafe Rio & Tempanyaki in our near future!! Ohhhhh the things a sick pregnant person looks forward too! :)

Chargers Game!!

Sorry this post is SO late! The game was actually back on Sept 2nd, but I have been majorly slacking on my wifely duties!.

Marc and I were able to get tickets for $9.00 to go see the Chargers play the 49ers this year. Since the tickets were so cheap we had some friends came with us & I am so glad they did. They were rooting for the 49ers and Marc and I were obviously rooting for the Chargers. We had so much fun talking smack! I have to admit though, we bailed out in the 4th quarter to avoid traffic. We figured since we got the tickets for so cheap, it was okay and I am happy we bailed too because 49ers pulled off a win!. I didn't take many pictures, but here are the few I did get... I love the lady in the background giving the peace sign. It always makes pictures so much better when you see stuff like that. haha

Pregnancy update....

So as I mentioned before I have been having a mad case of morning sickness. Up until this weekend I thought I had it bad. Always nauseous, but not actually throwing up. Well, now I am wishing to go back to that stage. At least then I could fall asleep and forget for a brief moment how sick I felt.
Anyways, On Saturday morning before my morning sickness went to a level 8 or 9 I was minding my own business doing my pre-season Desperate Housewives marathon and I came across Gabby's bootcamp. This is exactly how I have been feeling except swap bootcamp for pregnancy. I was dying laughing! There truly is no better way to describe how I have been feeling than to watch this clip....

hahaha, the "puking air" feeling, wanting a break to eat something that actually sounds good, having other women say we've all been through it, needing a time out from it all, being tired. I just love this clip. At least I can laugh about how I have been feeling even if it is miserable.

Some other pregnancy body changes I have been experiencing....
-My nails are growing like crazy. I think this has to do with the prenatal's.
-Tired a lot, but not sleeping very well.
-Tight tight tight muscles. I would kill for a massage from a masseuse.
-Food not digesting through esophagus. I feel like I have food just sitting in the back of my throat, like if I were to eat it wouldn't be able to go anywhere except my mouth because I am literally filled to the gills.
-Started actually throwing up instead of just "air puking"
Anyways, there are many many more, but those are some that are fresh on my mind from this weekend.

We're Expecting!.

You see, when two people love each other VERY much.... HAHA! Joke, yes... It's true! We are expecting our first beautiful baby!.

We went to the doctor yesterday and it was AmAzInG!. (Side note: Our doctor is perfect!.) She ran some tests and talked to us about all sorts of different stuff. Then she talked to Marc in Medical lingo about a bunch of stuff that went right over my head, but he was loving it. Then the best part, the Ultrasound. This might sound crazy, but I am IN LOVE with that little flicker on the screen and the sound **woosh woosh, woosh woosh** I was so scared I wasn't going to be able to see the baby, but it was so easy!. Our doctor zoomed right in and it was incredible. Her printer was broken so she promised us an even better picture next visit, but it didn't even matter. I will remember that screen and what it looked like forever! So our due date is in April and we could not be more happy and excited to be entering this new stage of life.

Morning sickness is kicking my butt. I am not exactly sure why they call it "morning sickness" because it is more of an all day sickness, at least for me. Becides feeling nacious all the time and never wanting to eat because food sounds nast and makes me gag just from the thought of it, I have been in a constant state of hibernation. I work, sleep and repeat. I am so lucky to have Marc. He is always looking out for me trying to help when he can. I haven't done one load of dishes since my morning sickness kicked in because he always beats me to the punch. He is such a good man and husband.

CHICAGO!!.

This trip to Chicago was fun and very entertaining. It started off by having our planes delayed 1-2 hours, so we ended up having to take a bus to the red line and almost got mugged in the Subway Station at 3am. A guy got on and was asking for food/money. I had an apple juice so I told him that was all the food I had with me and he started calling me a "lying b**ch" and telling me to "give him my effin money" He said A LOT more, but that is the clean nice version of it. VERY SCARY!!!! I had my mace in a death grip, luckily we got off the next stop!
Then we got to our hotel in which they had given away our 2-bed bedroom and so they ended up having to put us in a parlor with 4 roll-a-ways, then switched us the next morning.
From then on we had a pretty great trip. We went to the convention (lots of GREAT freebies), Lots of great restaurants and of course hit up all of Chicago's major tourist spots!.
We went to Navy Pier, White Sox Game, Chicago Archatecture Tour Boat, Pizza Tour, Sears Tower, McCormicks & Schmits, Chicago Chophouse, Gibsons, Harpo Studios and much much more.

Some cool things that were going on in Chicago while we were there.... They were filming Transformers 3 just down the road from our hotel. (Get this, they paid the city of Chicago 250 million to film there, HOLY COW!!) and Josh Duhamel was at the White Sox Game. Vince Vaughn sky dove out of the plance at the air and water show and we got to go to two main places they filmed The Dark Night. (the place they robbed the bank and the street they had the motorcycle accident on) I also found out that Oprah's Harpo Studio is haunted!. Talk about feeling like I was in Hollywood!

Here are some pictures.... ENJOY!!!
Oh, and by the way if you are curious about Chicago's weather, it was SOOOOO hot and the humidity made it killer!!. They said it was the hottest summer they have had in a long time.
