Since we are going to Kanab for Christmas and a cruise right after, we decided it was out of our budget to go anywhere for Thanksgiving. We thought we would have a small little dinner here, but were so excited when Marc's family decided to come up here and join us. It was great to finally have them up. Thanksgiving went well relatively speaking... Emma was all over cooking the turkey so that took some pressure off, but somehow I managed to cut my finger the night before when making rolls... OuCh!. Also, I shattered a 9x13 glass pan into a thousand pieces!. I think I was in more shock than bummed about the pan. Turns out that the theory of hot glass going cold quickly is in fact true, if you were wondering! Anyways, everything else turned out great. We were all stuffed by the time we were done eating.
Friday after Thanksgiving we decide to go to Santa Cruz so Marc and Chris could go surfing & we could hit up the boardwalk. We first went to the Billabong store and Marc got a new wet suit for an early Christmas present. It is perfect so now he can manage being in the Cold Cold water! While the Marc and Chris surfed, the rest of us went down to Betty's Burgers and then watched them surf for a while. Then we headed over to the boardwalk. Although most the rides were closed down for the season a lot of the shops were still open so that was fun to wander around for a while.
Saturday we went to San Francisco. That was a blast. We went on the tour of Alcatraz. I have to say, if you have never been... it is SO worth it. First we walked around with a guide who told us all about the attempted escapes and then walked through the actual prison with the audio tour. It was insane. Here is a fun fact... did you know that even though the prison has been shut down for YEARS two of the men that were there are still in prison. I believe one was 79 and the other was 81 (could be wrong on the ages a bit), but they have spent there whole lives in prison. After our LONG ride back to shore we had lunch at Pier 39 and then headed over to Lombard Street. There were so many cars waiting. I think it would drive me CrAzY if I lived there. Then we decided to top off the night at The Golden Gate Bridge. Marc and I didn't do that last time we went to San Fran so I was stoked. I got butterflies when we were driving across it... The thought of an earthquake happening while we were on there was just way to much for me to handle, but we made it out alive!. We also got some pretty cool pictures on the opposite site facing the city.
All in all the weekend was a blast. Can't wait for Christmas now!!
